Big Walk Beginner's Guide
A Big Walk beginner's guide covering the shared-trip design, hosting, Join Codes, communication, puzzles, and the best way to start with friends.
Start with a group
Big Walk is built around a shared trip rather than random matchmaking. Arrange a group of 2 to 12 players, choose who will keep the save, and agree on a simple callout style before setting off.
Join a game
If the host is a friend on the same platform service, look for their active game. If it does not appear, ask the host for the short Join Code from the host menu or Session Details. Mac App Store players should use the code because Game Center is not supported.
Communicate around puzzles
Use the game’s voice or text chat to describe landmarks, clues, and interactable objects. You do not need a microphone to complete the game; the built-in text chat supports the same cooperative communication loop.
First-session checklist
- Update every platform to the same game version.
- Confirm the host can see the whole group.
- Test voice or text chat before a long route.
- Mark the first landmark on the Big Walk map.
- Keep the walkthrough open for route checkpoints.
